A familiar sight, isnt it. Your kids, just back from the holidays, are refusing to go back to school.

Weeks of summer holiday, to much time with their mario toys, no routine and late nights no doubt are the source of the trouble. What is a modern parent to do?

I had a similar experience with my kids this week. They’d been off for about 10 weeks, of which we spent the last 4 on holiday.

How to get them to school on time? Shout, screem, get up at the crack of dawn? No – none of these…

Just simple bribery!

They have all the mario toys in the world, mario plush for bed time, mario action figures for fun & games, luigi and yoshi. But nothing to cary them around. They were also in desperate need for some new super backpacks and Amazon came to the rescue with a great selection of mario backpacks for children.

So I ordered two mario bags for the boys and a yoshi bag for my daughter, together with a useful mario lunch box! Very practical, loads of space for books, and no trouble from them on the 1st day of school. Horay!

Great Super Mario Mini Toys

Mario is the most famous character in the history of video games, and perhaps is the most famous character ever. In a 1990 poll Mario was more popular and recognizable among children than Mickey Mouse. Mario Toys and Super Mario Action Figures are a great gift and a popular toy with kids.

Not surprising, seeing that Super Mario Bros. is the second best selling game of all time with over 40 million copies sold (pst – i’ll tell you later what the best selling game is).

It was also voted as the greatest computer game ever in July 2008, closely followed by well known favorites pac-man and tetris. Naturally toys based on this great game were also an immense hit.

Here is the proof that Mario Toys are more popular today then they have ever been, and that Mario Toys are more popular than Mickey Mouse Toys! The graph below shows that toys like Mario Action Figures are TWICE as popular as Mickey Mouse.

History of Super Mario Bros.

Mario Bros started as a computer game and was first published in 1983 by Nintendo as a follow up to Donkey Kong. The original game saw Mario, and his brother, Luigi, investigate the sewers of New York.

The plumber brothers, Mario and Luigi, in the game, exterminate pests by kicking them away and flipping on their backs. Following this initial success, the game has been released over 20 times on many different platforms.

The early versions of mario have sold more then 1.63 million copies.

Interesting fact: Mario was first seen in the video game Donkey Kong, but he was called “Jumpman.” He was also a carpenter then, not a plumber.

Super Mario Brothers is the 1985 follow up from this initial success. In this new game, Mario had to rescue Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser, king of the Koopas.

Since then we have seen many new iterations of the popular game, most recently concluding with Mario Galaxy on the Nintendo Wii!

As can be expected after such immense success, the Mario Toys and Mario Action Figures became the next must-have toy.
